At Lisburn Hearing Centre, we provide high quality and safe ear wax removing services. We offer two types of ear wax removal services - micro suction and irrigation, both of which are very effective and safe.

Our team of trained staff and audiologists will carry out an examination of your ears, to identify any ear wax blockages. If you require our services, we can usually carry out the ear wax removal procedure on the same day.

Signs of Ear Wax Blockage

Ear wax is a normal natural helpful substance that the body produces in order to protect ears from dirt and germs. A build-up of earwax however can become painful and uncomfortable.

Some of the symptoms of a build-up of ear wax includes:

• Hearing loss
• Feeling of ears being blocked
• Earache
• Tinnitus - a ringing or buzzing in the ears
• Vertigo - feeling dizzy or nauseous

Do not try to remove ear wax yourself with external objects such as a cotton bud or hair clip. These methods are very unsafe and may cause further blockage and damage to your ears.

Micro Suction Ear Wax Removal

Micro suction is one of the most comfortable and efficient forms of ear wax removal. It uses a tiny microscope alongside a small suction tube to remove ear wax blockages, making this method very accurate for the audiologist and safe for the client.

The micro suction method does not use any form of liquid in the ear wax removal process, making it ideal for anyone with a perforated eardrum or mastoid cavity. The lack of liquid used also significantly reduces the risk of infection and makes the removal service a cleaner process.

Irrigation Ear Wax Removal

Irrigation ear wax removal is a method of using water to flush ear wax blockage out of the ear canal. Body temperature water is used for irrigation, breaking up the ear wax and allowing it to drain away.

Only a skilled trained member of staff or an audiologist should perform this procedure and it should not be administered to those who have had ear surgery, a perforated eardrum or mastoid cavity. If a client feels pain or pressure in the procedure, they should ask for the process to be stop irrigating immediately.
